  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions :

  • Cook and drain spaghetti. Stir in margarine, parmesan cheese and eggs, while spaghetti is hot. Form spaghetti mixture into a crust in a buttered 10 inch pie plate.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • In a skillet cook the beef, onion, green pepper and garlic. Drain off the fat and stir in the undrained tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar and oregano. Heat through.
  • Spread cottage cheese over the spaghetti crust then pour in the beef and tomato mixture.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 20 minutes. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the top of the pie then bake for 5 minutes longer, until cheese melts.

  • Soak the dried mushrooms and tiger lily buds in warm water for 20 minutes. After trimming off any tough stems, slice the mushrooms. With the fingers, shred the tiger lily stems.

  • 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • Cook sausage in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat. Reduce heat to low, stir in the jar of spaghetti sauce, and heat through. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, combine cottage cheese, sour cream. Stir in dried parsley to taste.
  • Spoon 1/2 of the meat sauce into the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.   • 1 (10 ounce) package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained
  • 1/2 (16 ounce) jar roasted red peppers, drained and patted dry

  • Mix flour, cornmeal, and salt in a bowl. Cut in butter with pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Beat 2 eggs with 3 tablespoons cold water; stir into flour mixture until dough holds together. Add another tablespoon water if needed. Shape 2/3 of the dough into flattened round; repeat with remaining 1/3. Wrap. Refrigerate at least 30 minutes, or until firm enough to roll.
  • In another bowl, combine ricotta cheese, crumbled feta, Parmesan cheese, 1 egg, parsley, basil, and oregano until well blended.
  • Have an 8 or 9 inch springform pan ready. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the larger portion of dough into a 15 inch diameter circle. Carefully place in ungreased pan; press lightly against bottom and sides. Trim overhanging dough to 1 inch from pan rim.
  • Scatter half of the mozzarella over the bottom of the crust. Next arrange half the ham slices in an even layer. Spread with ricotta cheese mixture, then sprinkle with spinach. Cover with the remaining ham slices. Press down gently to pack layers. Add red peppers in a single layer, and top with the remaining mozzarella. Press down again.
  • Roll out remaining dough to 8 or 9 inch circle. Place over filling to cover. Moisten edges, and seal crusts together. Crimp or flute edges. Crust should not extend above pan rim. Beat remaining egg, and brush over the crust. Cut several small vents in top crust for steam to escape.
  • Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 1 hour, or until crust is deep golden brown and pulls away from sides. Cool in pan on wire rack 45 minutes. Remove pan sides; cool completely. Cut into 12 wedges. Serve at room temperature.

  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions :

  • Stir together flour and salt. Cut in butter and lard until the texture resembles bread crumbs. Stir in cold water 1 tablespoon at a time until you are able to gather the dough into a ball. Wrap in cling film, and place in the refrigerator for an hour. Do not skip the resting of the pastry, as it is vital.
  • Roll out one third of the dough into a circle large enough to cover the top of the pie. Cut out a circle in the middle, using a mug/cup as a guide, to make a ring. Put four small cuts radiating out from the circle in the centre of the pastry, to allow the crust to expand without cracking. Recombine the off cuts with the rest of the pastry. Roll out the rest of the pastry to fit the base and the sides of a greased pie tin. Trim off the edges to make a neat pie.
  • Prick the pastry in the tin with a fork, and brush with beaten egg. Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for about 10 minutes.
  • Combine grated cheese, onion, 3 eggs, Worcestershire sauce, and salt and pepper. Stir well, then add the tomatoes and the mustard. Thoroughly combine the mix, and fill the baked pie casing with it. Put the circular piece of pastry over the top of the pie, and squeeze the top to the base where they meet. Brush the top of the pie with beaten egg.
  • Place the pie one shelf above the middle. Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 45 minutes. Cover the top of the pie with foil, and cook for another 7 minutes.

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Beat eggs slightly, stir in white sugar, salt and vanilla. Gradually stir in milk. Add 1/2 cup coconut to filling, and reserve remaining 1/2 cup for the top. Pour filling into pie shell.
  • Bake at 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) for 25 to 30 minutes, or until knife inserted into center of pie comes out clean. Cool pie completely.
  • Before serving, mix 1/2 cup coconut with butter and brown sugar. Sprinkle on top of pie. Broil, about 3 or 4 inches away from heat, for 2 to 4 minutes.

  • In a separate saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Blend in the flour, mustard powder, and pepper until smooth. Slowly stir in the milk, beating out any lumps. Add the American and processed cheeses, and stir constantly until the sauce is thick and smooth.
  • Drain noodles, and stir them into the cheese sauce. Transfer the mixture to the prepared casserole dish. Sprinkle bread crumbs over the top.
  • Cover the dish, and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until sauce is thick and bubbly.

  • 1/2 cup flaked coconut

  • 1/2 cup raisins

  • Fill a cup with ice and water. Sift the flour and salt into a bowl. Cut in the shortening to make pea-size pieces. Add the tablespoons of ice water from the cup until dough holds together. Form the dough into a ball. The dough is now complete. Put it into a plastic bag or wrap it up and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.
  • Roll the dough between two sheets of waxed paper. Cut the shells using a large glass or your smallest pot. You should have about 12 shells when finished. Put these shells into a greased muffin or tart pan.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C)
  • Put walnuts and coconut on baking pan and roast for 5-10 minutes, until brown. Remove from oven and set temperature to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
  • Fill the bottom of each tart shell with about 10 raisins each.
  • Whisk together sugar, egg, butter, vanilla and hot water. Add coconut and walnuts. Pour mixture into tart shells, filling 2/3 full and no more.
  • Bake in 450 degrees F (230 degrees C) oven for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool before attempting to remove. Makes 12 tarts.
